"OTT releases this week" is a search that spikes every Thursday and Friday in India, and this week it has extra fuel: Gandhi Jayanti on Friday gives many people a three-day weekend. Here is what has landed, and what lands over the weekend, on the main platforms. Dates are for India unless noted; release times vary, and most Netflix titles go live at 12:30 PM IST while Prime Video and JioHotstar usually release at midnight.

Netflix

  • East of Eden (1 October): a seven-episode limited series adapting John Steinbeck's novel about two families in California's Salinas Valley across generations. It is the week's big international drama.
  • Ohh My Dog (1 October): a family film about a boy and his dog, aimed at younger viewers and good for the holiday weekend.
  • Romanchakam (1 October): a Malayalam film arriving on the platform after its theatrical run.
  • #Love (2 October): a new release available in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam from day one.

Prime Video

  • Sardar 2 (1 October): Karthi returns in the sequel to the 2022 Tamil spy thriller, arriving on streaming after cinemas.
  • Dupahiya Season 2 (1 October): the second season of the small-town comedy set in a fictional Bihar village famous for having no crime. The first season was one of Prime Video India's most-watched comedies of 2025.
  • Coming up, Carrie (7 October): an eight-episode series based on Stephen King's debut novel, with Summer H. Howell as Carrie White. Not this week, but the trailer has been trending and it is worth putting on your list.

JioHotstar

  • Bethlehem Kudumba Unit (2 October): a Malayalam family drama arriving on Gandhi Jayanti.
  • Lanterns (4 October): the DC series built around the Green Lanterns, with new episodes arriving on the platform.
  • Bigg Boss Season 20 continues daily through October, with weekend episodes drawing the biggest audiences.

What to pick for the long weekend

  • Want one long, serious watch: East of Eden. Seven episodes fits a weekend neatly.
  • Want something light with family: Dupahiya Season 2, then Ohh My Dog for the kids.
  • Want a thriller: Sardar 2, or catch up on the first two Drishyam films before seeing The Conclusion in cinemas.
  • Want comic-book action: Lanterns, which is also a good entry point if you do not follow DC closely.

A note on release timings

Platforms do not always publish exact times, and some titles roll out region by region. If a show has not appeared at midnight, check again by early afternoon before assuming the date has moved. Netflix in particular releases most originals at 12:30 PM IST.
