Redmi 17C 5G at Rs 20,999: 6,000mAh Battery, 6.9-Inch 120Hz Display and Sale From 7 October. Is It Worth It?
Xiaomi's Redmi 17C 5G launched in India at Rs 20,999 for 4GB/128GB and Rs 22,999 for 6GB/128GB, with a 6,000mAh battery and a 6.9-inch 120Hz display. It goes on sale from 7 October on Amazon, mi.com and offline stores. What you get, what you give up and how it compares at this price.
Xiaomi's budget 5G phone for the festive season is out, and it leans on two numbers: a 6,000mAh battery and a 6.9-inch screen. The Redmi 17C 5G launched on 1 October and goes on sale from Wednesday 7 October. Here is what matters.
Price and variants
- 4GB RAM, 128GB storage: Rs 20,999
- 6GB RAM, 128GB storage: Rs 22,999
Sales start on 7 October on Amazon India, mi.com and in offline stores. Xiaomi usually pairs the first sale with a bank discount, so check the listing before you buy.
What you get
- A 6.9-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, large even by current standards.
- A 6,000mAh battery, which at this screen size should still comfortably last a day and a half with normal use.
- 5G connectivity across the Indian bands that matter.
- The usual Redmi software with Xiaomi's HyperOS skin.
What you give up
At Rs 21,000 you are not getting a flagship chip or a high-end camera. The 17C is built for people who want a big screen for video, long battery life and 5G, not for gaming or photography. The 4GB variant will feel the pinch with many apps open; the Rs 2,000 step to 6GB is worth it.
How it compares
The Rs 20,000 to 25,000 segment is the most crowded in India. Realme, Samsung's M series, Motorola's G series and Xiaomi's own Redmi Note line all compete here. The 17C's edge is battery and screen size; the Redmi Note line typically offers a better camera for a little more money. If you are choosing between them, decide whether screen or camera matters more to you.
Timing
Festive sales on Amazon and Flipkart begin in the run-up to Dussehra and Diwali, which is why Xiaomi has timed the first sale for the first week of October. Prices on launch-week phones rarely drop during the first sale, but older Redmi models often do, so compare.
