From the College Canteen to the Wedding Mandap — Their 7-Year Love Story Finally Had a Happy Ending

Every college has a love story that everyone knows about — that couple who sit together in the canteen, study together in the library, and walk around the campus together. Rohan and Divya were that couple. And their story — which began in 2015 — reached the wedding hall in 2022.

That First Day — When Eyes Met

It was Orientation Day. Rohan was an engineering student, Divya was in management at the same college. She couldn't find a seat in the canteen. Rohan said — 'Sit here.' They started talking. Three hours later both remembered they had skipped orientation.

Divya says — 'I knew from the very first day. This person is special. But I held myself back — because relationships in college are complicated. I thought — just friends.' But 'just friends' didn't last long.

Two Years of Friendship — Then a Confession

For two years both were close friends. Rohan loved Divya but didn't have the courage to say it. Divya needed Rohan but was afraid. Then in the final year Rohan's placement was rejected. Divya called at 2 AM — just to comfort him.

In that call Rohan said — 'Divya, I have to tell you something.' There was a pause that lasted 10 seconds, but it contained an entire lifetime. 'I love you.' Divya paused for a moment and said — 'Me too.'

Rohan, remembering that night

"In that 10-second pause I imagined everything. That she would say no, that the friendship would end, that I had made a mistake. And when she said 'me too' — it felt like the world had stopped, in the best possible way."

Family Opposition — Which Was Expected

Rohan was from Uttar Pradesh, Divya from Tamil Nadu. Both families had different traditions, different languages, different expectations. Rohan's mother said — 'Marry within your community.' Divya's father asked — 'What is his caste?'

After graduation both were in different cities. Family pressure was there. There was even a breakup once — for 6 months. Rohan worked, Divya did her MBA. Both thought maybe this was right. But both knew — this is not right.

6 Months Later — That Message

6 months after the breakup Divya sent one message — just one — 'I miss you.' Rohan replied — 'I've been waiting for this.' They met — in Pune, on neutral ground. And this time they decided — we won't be apart again, no matter what.

This time both approached it differently. First they settled their careers. Then they introduced themselves to each other's families — properly, patiently. Rohan went to Divya's home and spoke directly. Divya said 2 sentences in Tamil to Rohan's mother — and everyone melted.

Divya, remembering his mother

"Rohan's mother hadn't spoken much to me before. But when I ate the food she had made and honestly said 'this is even better than my mother's' — she laughed. Food connects hearts — that's true."

7 Years — And Finally That Day

In 2022 Rohan and Divya got married — with two ceremonies. First North Indian, then South Indian. Both families planned it together. The wedding that had once seemed impossible became a celebration — of two cultures coming together.

Rohan says — 'Our love story was not simple. There was family opposition, long distance, a breakup. But everything we faced made us stronger. Who we are today is because of all those struggles.'

College Love — Is It Real?

Many people say — college love doesn't really exist, it's just infatuation. Rohan and Divya's story is the answer to that. The friendships formed in college, the understanding that develops, the bond of studying and struggling together — all of that is very genuine.

But for college love to survive you need patience, maturity, and the willingness for both people to grow as individuals first. Love is not just a feeling — it is a choice. And Rohan and Divya made that choice through every difficulty.
